The FOCL construction to the North-Even Municipal District will be completed this year

According to Dmitry Mironenko, Minister of Digital Development and Communications of the Magadan region, in 2023 almost all municipal districts of the region will be provided with broadband Internet access via fibre-optic communication lines (FOCL). Currently, there is no broadband access in North-Even District. But, according to Dmitry Mironenko, in March 2023, the construction of a FOCL from Omsukchan to Evensk began. The line is currently 200 kilometers long, with a planned total length of 606 kilometers. The work is expected to be completed in June this year.

"14 socially significant facilities in the North Even district will be switched from a satellite communication channel to a high-speed Internet access line. We are also working on the Orotukan-Omsukchan FOCL line, as well as reserving the marine FOCL line from Sakhalin to Magadan", - said Dmitry Mironenko.

In 2023, the line to Omsukchan was brought to a normal condition, the cable was buried in a 60 km section. These works will be continued this year.

"As for reserving an underwater FOCL to Sakhalin, we plan to implement this as part of the fulfilment of Russian President Vladimir Putin's list of instructions on the development of Far Eastern cities. In addition, it is planned to build a FOCL from Kedrovy settlement to Ust-Nera settlement in Yakutia. FOCL design is scheduled for 2024, and construction in 2025," said Dmitry Mironenko.

He also noted that by the share of households provided with broadband Internet access, Magadan region is in the top 5 regions in the country.

In addition, in Magadan region, wireless free public Wi-Fi networks have been created and are gradually developing in public gardens, libraries, theaters, cultural and leisure centers, etc.

Thanks to the implementation of joint projects of the Government of Magadan region and telecom operators, 100% of settlements in the region are provided with cellular communication (from 4G to 2G). This year, it is planned to build a base station as part of a project to eliminate digital inequality in the village of Takhtoyamsk.

Dmitry Mironenko also spoke about the availability of various state services in electronic form. The development of this area is the goal of the "Digital Transformation" set by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"In 2023, 102950 residents of the Magadan region applied for electronic services, sending 667,003 applications. The service quality score was 4.31, compared to 4.2 in 2022. A total of 1815 services are available for Kolyma residents in electronic form," noted Dmitry Mironenko.

In addition, in 2023 the state control of the Ministry of Agriculture in the field of retail sale of alcoholic and alcohol-containing products in Magadan region was automated. This year, it is planned to automate the directions of the state control of the regional Ministry of Education and the Department of Administrative Bodies.
